Arts for All - Open Studio
Monday mornings we open the artspace for people of all ages and abilities to drop by and work on their own art. If you need a little inspiration we will also offer a different art invitation each week. This is a casual, friendly space where you can explore your own creativity. In Term 2 2024 we had a big focus on mosaics and we will continue that into Term 3 for those who are interested. Creative Kids
7Fun classes for kids 6-12yrs. We will work with a variety of different art materials to learn technique and express ourselves.

Flax Weaving with Wendy
This roopu meets Monday evenings to explore all things flax. Experienced weavers are welcome to bring their own project. Beginners are welcome to come and learn from kaiako Wendy Katipo. Once you have attended once it is expected that you are responsible for your own harvesting and preparation of flax. We can teach you how to do that and support you as you learn this artform.

Knit & Natter
Everyone is welcome at our weekly gathering of yarn lovers. Bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery or other handicraft and work along side your peers. We also have plenty of yarn, needles and advice on hand if you are a beginner looking to learn. Tea and coffee is available along with plenty of friendly conversation.
Occasionally we also hold a Night Knit and Natter for those unable to attend during a week day. This is usually held on a weekday evening from 7pm to 9pm. If you are interested in this option contact us at [email protected] and we will keep you in the loop.

He Kākano - Beginners te reo Māori roopu
Our beginners class is a great foundation for people who want to:
learn correct pronunciation
learn basic waiata and karakia
develop confidence in delivering their own pepeha and mihi
gain a basic understanding of tikanga on a marae and at a powhiri
start building their vocabulary
The roopu is led by kaiako Gail Hosken. It is koha based but ākonga (students) are expected to complete mahi kainga (homework) and actively participate in the group.

Toi Māori Mahi with Mihi
Join Mihi Waru and Kris Bryant every Thursday morning to make friends and practice toi Māori artforms. Over the past year the group has explored taaniko, tukutuku and raranga. All welcome.

TK Ukelele Club
Beginner and experienced Ukelele lovers meet each Thursday evening for a little bit of strumming, a little bit of singing and a whole lot of fun. Under the tutelage of experienced music teacher, Chelsey Bennett, we learn a wide range of songs from different genres and eras. New members are welcome. If you are a beginner please get in touch in advance and we will arrange a little induction for you to build your confidence.
Ukulele Club is taking a great in 2024 but we do have a FB community and attend regional events together. If you are interested in getting involved please contact [email protected].
Whānau Nights
Whānau nights are a wonderful opportunity for young and old to come in and create together. To date we have enjoyed Tie Dye, Family Portraits, Stone & Mandala Painting and Super Stick construction, My Happy Place and Faerie Landscapes. Our next whaanau night will be for Father's Day.

Copper Jewellery
In this fun workshop local jeweller Rohan Warhlich will teach you about the properties of copper. You will make your own ring, bracelet and pendant. Suitable for tweens, teens and adults.

Holiday Workshops
We aim to run at least one special workshop during school holidays... sometimes just for the kids and sometimes for the whole whanau. These are usually free or low cost so keep a look out for what's coming up next. Recent workshops have included Lino Prints, Mosaics, Flower Press Making, Matariki Clay Play, Kaleidescopes, Spring Cushion Painting, Print and Poi, Soda Can Portraits and Wacky Robots.
Karaoke and Jam Nights
We hold semi regular Jam nights for musicians and singers of all ages. Bring your instrument of choice and share your talent, collaborate with others and have a great time.

Te Kauwhata Photography Club and Competition
The Te Kauwhata Photography Club is comprised of local professional and amateur photographers seeking friends for shoots and professional development activities. Join their Facebook Group to get involved. Meetings are at the group's discretion.
We also host Te Kauwhata's annual photography competition and exhibition. Entries usually open in August and close in October, judging in November and the winners announced at Te Kauwhata A&P Show each year in December.
